What Type Of Blogger Are You?
Hello
Today I want to discuss the blogging phenomenon, and
see what type of blogger you are - I divide all bloggers
into 3 categories - NBY (Not Blogging Yet), OB (occasional
blogger) and PB (Professional Blogger).
There are 70 million blogs online today, and thousands
more each day - yet many IMers STILL haven’t got their
first blog online yet. Are you an NBY? There’s a good
reason why NBY and newbie are phonetically similar - both
are marks of those new to the biz. Experienced big-dog
markters know there’s very little that has the power of
your own blog, especially tools that are available for no
outlay, like blogging is.

Are you liable to get thousands or tens of thousands
flocking to your blog each day? No. As an IMer, do you
care? Again, no. Because that’s not why you’re blogging;
you’re blogging to get your links spidered by the big
engines quickly, and to be able to use the Web 2.0 sites
to get people to your online empire and onto your lists.
On to OBs - you know it if you’re an OB, because you
find yourself feeling guilty over not posting to your
blog on a regular basis. oh ys, you DO have a blog or 2,
you just haven’t updated them in forever. It may be you’re
not sure what to write, it may be you’ve been too busy
with other stuff, or maybe you’ve just been lazy for the
last bit, who knows? The fact remains - you’re not liable
to change in a hurry, are you?
For OBs, it’s John Delavera to the rescue. John created
the ‘WordPress Blogs Auto Content Generator’ - a big name
for a simple little script that can ease your guilt - and
make your blog a lot more effective. You choose from the
millions of RSS feeds online, and the script adds info
from those other blogs to yours, keeping it updated with
fresh content up to once a day.
While it will never replace your own posts for driving
people to your sites, it can keep the engines coming
back to your blog over and over. Just be sure to choose
feeds with content written around the right keywords for
your sites… You can download the generator from:
On to PBs - Professional Bloggers. You’re running one,
or more likely a few blogs, your main one and some geared
to each niche you’re active in. You post to each once a
week or more, and usually more often to your main blog.
While the Generator above is fine for a few of your niches
you’re just dabbling in, you’d never settle for that on
your main blogs…
You ping the directories with each post, have a plugin
creating and updating your Google sitemaps, another to do
your technorati tags, and use your MyBlogLog community to
keep your audience growing - you’re serious about this and
are seeing all the benefits that go with it.
Well, time to kick it up another notch, then! Many think
Podcasting and Vlogging (video blogging) must be truly
difficult or require major outlays - and they think it’s
just to give a more personal touch to your blogs. Nope.
Both give you access to a whole new raft of directories the
blogging alone doesn’t reach, and you know what more access
to directories and Web 2.0 sites means - more visitors,
more exposure and more results across the board.
The PodPress plugin adds your audios to your blog to make
podcasts, and there’s a great resource about video blogging
from Liz Tomey, and this week you can download VideoBlogger
from our site at:
